Since we moved to Orange County, I have wanted to share some of my favorite restaurants in the area. In no specific order, below are 4 spots not to miss if you plan a trip to Orange County and want to go somewhere away from the tourists. Let me know in the comments below your favorite spot to dine in the OC!
Farmhouse: This is a hidden gem, located behind a nursery called Rodger's Garden. A perfect spot for lunch or dinner away from the crowds at Fashion Island. The food is all delicious and often times we share everything here, but here are some of our favorites from the menu: the Roasted Beet Salad, the Grilled Asian Beef Short Ribs, and the Farmhouse Vegetable Plate.
Gulfstream: A favorite for many in the area, we love going here for special occasions as well as just for fun. They don't take reservations, but we have never had to wait very long for a table, especially if you are fine sitting outside. They have heat lamps too so you never feel cold even in the winter months. Our favorites include: the Home Smoked Salmon, Mustard Barbecue Beef Ribs and the Seared Tuna Steak.
The Cellar: This one is a little farther from the coast, but definitely worth the trip! Located in downtown Fullerton, this gem is great for any special occasion or date night. It is dark and intimate and has a lot of character. They claim to be "Reminiscent of Old Europe" - no wonder I like it! Our all time favorite dish to get here is the Chateaubriand steak - my husband and I both agree it might be the best steak we have ever had - enough said...
Driftwood Kitchen: Overlooking the water in Laguna Beach, this place has some of the best ocean views you can find while dining in Orange County! The secret here is to ask for table #1 - it only seats two people, but you are perched on a balcony overlooking the ocean with a gorgeous view of the sunset.
